Dr. Laura del Hoyo is a clinical neuropsychologist and Miguel Servet researcher. Her research focuses on validating cognitive tests designed to capture phenotypic variability in individuals with Down syndrome, with a particular interest in the development and application of digital biomarkers.
Laura earned her degree in 2011 and completed her PhD in 2016 at the Autonomous University of Barcelona through the Hospital del Mar Medical Research Institute. Her doctoral thesis, focused on the factors contributing to cognitive and behavioral variability in individuals with Down syndrome, was awarded the prestigious Ramon Trias Fargas Prize, along with the Extraordinary Doctorate Award and cum laude distinction from the Autonomous University of Barcelona.
Between January 2017 and May 2023, Dr. del Hoyo conducted her research and clinical practice at the MIND Institute at the University of California, Davis (UCD). During this period, she secured funding for three research projects, establishing herself as a principal investigator and becoming part of the academic faculty at the University of California.
Since June 2023, she has been a part of the Memory Unit, where she combines clinical practice with research. Dr. del Hoyo has an outstanding scientific track record, with numerous publications in high-impact international journals and presentations of her projects at multiple international conferences.
