Francesca Imbastari is a highly accomplished biologist with extensive experience in both academic research and clinical trial management. She specializes in oncology, particularly in translational and preclinical research, with a strong focus on cancer growth, metastasis, and biomarker discovery. Currently, she is Senior Project Manager in Synapsing’s project at IRSP but she also served as Project Manager of ARTEMIS at Hospital Universitari Vall d’Hebron in Barcelona, where she leads a European Commission-funded project under Horizon 2020. Her role includes managing clinical studies, coordinating multi-stakeholder teams, handling ethics committee submissions, organizing scientific meetings and conferences, and overseeing financial budgeting. Previously, she was a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Postdoctoral Fellow at the Institute for Research in Biomedicine (IRB) in Barcelona, where she worked on breast and prostate cancer research. Her academic career includes a Ph.D. in Translational Oncology from the Max Delbrück Center and Charité in Berlin, during which she contributed to colorectal cancer biomarker research and supervised master’s students. Dr. Imbastari has also gained significant industry experience, working as a Clinical Study Manager at PPD-Thermo Scientific and emovis GmbH, where she coordinated multiple clinical trials and managed international research teams. She also holds a Postgraduate Certificate in Clinical Trial Management from Parexel. She has received numerous honors and awards, including the prestigious Marie Skłodowska-Curie Fellowship, an EMBO travel grant, and recognition for scientific excellence in oncology. She is fluent in multiple languages, including English, Spanish, German, and Italian, and possesses expertise in molecular biology, preclinical cancer research, and clinical project coordination.
