Carla Abdelnour Ruiz

Carla Abdelnour RuizDr. Carla Abdelnour Ruiz is a clinician-scientist, expert in neurodegenerative diseases. Her research goal is to develop a framework for personalized diagnosis and treatment of neurodegenerative diseases, in particular Lewy body disease (LBD). Inspired by the resilience and strength of Lewy body disease patients and their families, Dr. Abdelnour is committed to drive meaningful change and find solutions to improve their quality of life.

Dr. Abdelnour earned her medical degree at the Universidad Central de Venezuela, and specialized in Neurology at the Hospital Universitario Príncipe de Asturias in Madrid. She then joined Fundació Ace (Alzheimer Center Barcelona), where she worked in the Memory and the Clinical Trials Unit. Concurrently, Dr. Abdelnour pursued her PhD at the Universidad Autónoma de Barcelona. Following her PhD, Dr. Abdelnour conducted a postdoctoral fellowship sponsored by the Susan and Charles Berghoff Foundation at Stanford University under the mentorship of Prof. Kathleen L. Poston. In May 2025, she joined the Memory Unit as a clinician-researcher.
