Dr. Isabel Sala graduated in Psychology at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB) and later recieved a Masters degree in Diagnostic and Neuropsychological Rehabilitation (UAB-Hospital de Sant Pau) getting recognition as an expert by the Official College of Psychology, Catalonia. She obtained her PhD in Clinical Psychology from the University of Barcelona and in 2013 was awarded a grant for a training placement at UCSD Shiley-Marcos Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center to San Diego (USA) with Dr. D. Salmon.
As a neuropsychologist in the Memory Unit, her main responsability is to evaluate the cognition, behavioural and functional capability of patients who present with memory loss in order to provide a more accurate diagnosis. Additionally, Dra. Sala acts as an assessor in clinical trials. Her main research interest is focused on obtaining the optimal neuropsychological assessment to detect neurodegenerative diseases in prodromal phases of both Alzheimer-type dementia and dementia with Lewy bodies. She also trains students on behalf of the Psychology Faculty of the Univesitat Autònoma de Barcelona.
