Ignacio Illán

Ignacio Illán Gala - Sant Pau Memory Unit - Alzheimer Research - BarcelonaSpecialist in Neurology (Hospital Universitario la Paz, 2011-2015). In 2014, Dr. Ignacio Illán-Gala joined the behavioral neurology program of the Memory and Aging Center (San Francisco, USA) with Dr. Bruce Miller (supported by the Spanish Society of Neurology). After the residency, he joined the Memory Unit of the Santa Creu i Sant Pau Hospital in July 2015, by means of the competitive contract for the intensification of the research activity convened by the Research Institute of Sant Pau. He is actually in charge of the cohort of clinical syndromes associated with the Frontotemporal Lobar Degeneration (FTLD). In February 2016, he was granted with the i-PFIS contract. His pre-doctoral research is focused on the development of clinical (verbal memory and social cognition) and biological markers (cerebrospinal fluid biomarkers and neuroimaging) for FTLD. He is experienced in the assessment of patients with the behavioral variant of Frontotemporal Dementia, Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, Progressive Primary Aphasias and other motor syndromes associated with 4R tauopathies (Progressive Supranuclear Palsy and Corticobasal Syndromes).
