Lola Capilla

Dr. Lola Capilla earned a degree in Biotechnology from Universidad Miguel Hernández and completed a Master’s in Biomedicine at the University of Barcelona. In 2023, she obtained an international PhD in Neurosciences from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB) supported by an FPI fellowship, under the supervision of Prof. Carlos Saura. Her thesis focused on the vulnerability of memory and emotion circuits in Alzheimer’s disease models. She then worked for two years as a postdoctoral researcher at UAB, where she was also part of the academic staff.

She completed two research stays at Columbia University Irving Medical Center (New York) in 2022 and 2024, supported by The Company of Biologists and Boehringer Ingelheim Fonds Travel grants, specializing in transcriptomic analyses.

Since 2025, she has been part of the Memory Unit as a postdoctoral researcher and project manager, developing translational research on synaptic mechanisms in mental disorders and neurodegenerative diseases within the framework of the European SYNAPSING project.
