Neuropsychologist at the Alzheimer-Down Unit (Barcelona Down Medical Center – Fundació Catalana Síndrome de Down)
Dr. Laura Videla earned her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Barcelona in 2010. She further specialized in intellectual disability and clinical neuropsychology through postgraduate studies at the Autonomous University of Barcelona, obtaining Master’s degrees in “Clinical Infantojuvenile Psychopathology” and “Neuropsychology: Diagnosis and Neuropsychological Rehabilitation”. During this time, she gained valuable experience in clinical neuropsychology and research on neurodegenerative diseases by collaborating with the Memory Unit at the Hospital de la Santa Creu i Sant Pau. She continued to develop her research skills by completing a Master’s degree in “Research Methodology in Health Sciences” and earning her PhD at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona in 2023. Her doctoral thesis focused on studying cognitive changes and biomarkers in fluids related to the Alzheimer’s disease continuum in individuals with Down syndrome.
Since 2013, Dr. Videla has been working as a clinical neuropsychologist at the Alzheimer-Down Unit (Catalan Down Syndrome Foundation and Hospital de la Santa Creu i Sant Pau), where she combines her clinical and research activities to study, prevent, diagnose, and treat neurodegenerative diseases, particularly Alzheimer’s disease in people with Down syndrome.
