Dr. Laia Lidón received her degree in Biochemistry at the University of Barcelona (UB). In 2016 she obtained the interuniversity Master’s degree in Neuroscience by the UB, UPF, UdL and URV. In 2020 she obtained her PhD in Biomedicine from the UB. She developed her thesis under the supervision of Prof. José Antonio del Río and Dr. Rosalina Gavín at the Institute for Bioengineering of Catalonia (IBEC). During her PhD, Laia Lidón studied the role of the cellular prion protein as a key factor on tau modifications in Alzheimer’s disease. Afterwards, she obtained the postdoctoral fellowship Margarita Salas and in 2022 she joined the Sant Pau Memory Unit to carry out a project focused on the translational study of synaptic degeneration in neurodegenerative diseases.
